Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN), a part of Wipro Enterprises, has announced the launch of a new division named Wipro Electronic Materials, focused on producing high-performance base materials for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). This marks a significant move into the electronics manufacturing space, with a facility coming up in Karnataka that is expected to begin operations in 2026.

India’s First Copper-Clad Laminate Plant
The new plant will be India’s first dedicated Copper Clad Laminate (CCL) manufacturing facility. It will produce over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates and prepreg materials annually. The investment for this facility is around ₹500 crore, and it is projected to create approximately 350 jobs.
Strategic Shift for Localised Production
Pratik Kumar, CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering and MD of Wipro Enterprises, emphasized the strategic nature of this initiative. He stated that Wipro Electronic Materials represents a first-of-its-kind investment in India’s electronics landscape, supported by the Government of Karnataka and MeitY. The goal is to provide Indian manufacturers with reliable access to locally produced, high-quality materials, enhancing supply chain resilience and global competitiveness.
Meeting Critical Supply Chain Needs
Neeraj Pandita, Founder and Co-CEO of Wipro Electronic Materials, highlighted the current industry challenge—India currently imports 100% of its copper-clad laminate needs. The new division aims to reduce this dependency by manufacturing advanced base materials within India. This initiative will support critical sectors such as telecom, automotive, consumer electronics, and artificial intelligence, while positioning Wipro as a global supplier for OEMs.
Backed by Technical Strength and R&D
Wipro Electronic Materials will leverage global expertise, technical capabilities, and strong R&D infrastructure to drive innovation in the Indian electronics ecosystem. The division aims to support the next generation of electronic technologies and AI infrastructure, giving a significant boost to India’s ambitions in the electronics sector.
Expanding WIN’s Diversified Portfolio
With this launch, Wipro Infrastructure Engineering further expands its diversified portfolio. Already active in Hydraulics, Industrial Automation, Aerospace, Water Treatment, and Additive Manufacturing, the company now adds Electronic Materials to its growing list of specialised capabilities.
