Google has announced a free one-year subscription to its Gemini AI Pro plan for students in India aged 18 and above. The offer, revealed on 15 July, aims to support learning, research, and creativity through advanced AI tools.
Access to Gemini 2.5 Pro and Other Tools
The offer gives students access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google’s most advanced AI model to date. It includes powerful features such as Deep Research, NotebookLM with five times more usage capacity, and Veo 3, a video generation tool. Users will also benefit from Gemini Flow and other AI-based features.
Extra Storage and Productivity Benefits
In addition to AI tools, the plan offers 2 TB of Google Cloud storage. The full package is normally priced at ₹19,500 per year, but is now being provided free of charge to eligible students in India.
Registration Deadline and How to Apply
Eligible students must register by 15 September 2025 via Google’s official offer page. The company encourages interested users to check eligibility details and sign up early to make the most of the offer.
Gemini Already Boosting Student Confidence
Google cited internal data showing that 95% of Indian students using Gemini felt more confident in their everyday lives. The company noted that students are already using the tool for learning complex topics, job interview preparation, and generating creative ideas.
Gemini 2.5 Pro’s Technical Strength
The Gemini 2.5 Pro model is designed for deep reasoning and research support. It has performed well in benchmark evaluations, scoring 70 points on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index. This placed it just behind OpenAI’s o3-pro (71 points) and xAI’s Grok 4 (73 points).
New Updates to NotebookLM
Google also recently introduced updates to NotebookLM, including the launch of Featured Notebooks — curated collections developed in collaboration with authors, researchers, publishers, and nonprofit organisations. These updates are expected to further enhance learning and collaboration for students.
