MG Group, a leading private bus and coach manufacturer in India, has introduced its super-premium intercity coach TIGRA along with a refreshed corporate identity. The launch event, titled “RE:BORN”, took place at The Royal Senate, Palace Grounds in Bengaluru. TIGRA, designed and built at MG’s Belagavi facility, is available across all 13.5-meter coach chassis, targeting both Indian and global markets.

A New Era for the MG Brand

The brand refresh marks ten years since MG entered the premium coach segment. The new logo, inspired by a metal bolt, features a seamless M-to-G design that reflects MG’s journey from product concept to market delivery.

Chairman and Managing Director Anil Mohan Kamat stated that the group is moving beyond being just a trusted OEM partner. “We are stepping forward as a brand that leads with innovation, design, and premium product offerings like TIGRA,” he said.

TIGRA’s Key Features

The TIGRA coach is designed for comfort, safety, and modern aesthetics, making it ideal for long-distance and tourism travel. Some highlights include:

  • Plush interiors made from ABS mouldings with no visible fasteners or sharp edges
  • Integrated ambient lighting and premium upholstery for seats and berths
  • Signature heartbeat-style DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) across the coach’s full length
  • PU-moulded assistance handles for added passenger safety

According to Sivakumar V., President – Strategy and Sales, “The TIGRA is going to be a segment leader from day one.”

Manufacturing and Market Reach

The TIGRA will be produced at MG Group’s upgraded Belagavi facility, which has received significant investments in tools, jigs, and quality systems to support high-volume output.

Founded in 1980, MG Group operates plants in Belagavi (Karnataka) and Zaheerabad (Telangana). The company has delivered over 1.25 lakh bus bodies across various segments including school, staff, luxury, intercity, and special-purpose categories like defense and ambulances.

Expanding Capabilities and Vision

Gireesha Prabhu, Chief Operating Officer, emphasized that this launch represents more than a product. “We welcome a new era—bold in stance, global in vision, and human at heart,” she said.

MG Group serves a diverse client base including OEMs, state transport undertakings, fleet operators, and mobility startups. Its operations cover digital design, prototyping, interiors, electrical systems, and advanced manufacturing — showcasing a fully integrated ecosystem.

The launch of TIGRA and the new identity signal MG’s commitment to premium mobility solutions and its evolving role as a front-facing industry brand.
