Sunak returns to Goldman Sachs in a global advisory role

Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak returns to Goldman Sachs in a new senior role, with his salary reportedly going to his charity, The Richmond Project, after his party's significant loss in the 2024 general election

The CEO also said they were happy to have Rishi Sunak back at Goldman in this new role.

Life After Politics

Sunak was the UK Prime Minister from October 2022 to July 2024, but after his party lost badly in the 2024 general election, he stepped down. His party, the Conservatives, had their worst result in 100 years, dropping from 365 seats in 2019 to just 121 seats.

After resigning, Sunak kept a low profile. He was later given honorary posts at both Oxford University and Stanford University, where he had previously studied.

Even though he has taken up new roles, he said he will continue as an MP in the House of Commons and not quit politics completely.

His Salary Will Go to Charity

According to reports, Sunak’s salary from Goldman Sachs will not go to him personally. Instead, it will be donated to The Richmond Project, a charity started by him and his wife, Akshata Murty, to help improve math and number skills for people in the UK.

Family Wealth

Rishi Sunak and his wife are also among the richest couples in Britain, with a net worth of £640 million. Most of their wealth comes from Akshata Murty’s shares in Infosys, the IT company founded by her father, Narayana Murthy.

With this new role at Goldman Sachs, Sunak returns to where his career began, this time in a much more senior and influential position.
