Poonam Shah, a 37-year-old Mumbai-based artist, transitioned from a career in finance to becoming a full-time resin artist. After discovering resin art in Philadelphia, she left her job at Deloitte and returned to India to follow her passion.
The Idea Sparked by a Child
Her journey into toy-based furniture began when her daughter asked if she could reuse old toys. This led to the creation of her first resin rocking chair using broken crayons and toy blocks — the prototype for her current kids’ line.
Custom Furniture with Emotional Value
Poonam now designs bespoke resin furniture — including tables, chairs, and lamps — using toys sent by clients. Each item is made using wooden or silicone moulds, layered with toys in resin, and polished for a fine finish. These creations serve as memory-preserving keepsakes for families.

Handcrafted in Mumbai, Shipped Nationwide
Operating under her brand “Poonam Shah Art” from Andheri West, she launched officially in 2023. With a team of 7–10 people, she focuses on design and personalisation. Her clients come from cities like Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.
Social Media Boost and Expansion Plans
Instagram has played a key role in her growth, helping her showcase her work and reach a wide audience. She now plans to expand her studio and explore collaborations with schools and museums.
Balancing Business and Motherhood
While managing both her brand and being a mother, she maintains a flexible schedule and credits her team for enabling her creative focus.
Art with Meaning
Each creation is a blend of childhood nostalgia and sustainable design. From toy cars to puzzle pieces, she turns cherished memories into functional, decorative furniture — combining emotion, craftsmanship, and eco-consciousness.
Future Vision
Poonam aims to grow further by experimenting with new materials and expanding her memory-based art model, giving forgotten objects new life and significance.
