Amul tops Brand Finance's India 100 – 2025 report as India's most valuable food brand ($4.1 billion), with Mother Dairy climbing to second place, showcasing dairy sector dominance.
UK-based consultancy Brand Finance has released its India 100 – 2025 report, placing Amul at the top of the list of India’s most valuable food brands. Amul’s brand value stands at $4.1 billion, significantly ahead of Mother Dairy, which ranks second with a brand value of $1.15 billion.
Top Five Food Brands in India
According to the rankings, Britannia holds the third position, followed by Nandini, the Karnataka-based dairy cooperative, in fourth place. Dabur secures the fifth spot. The rankings highlight the continued dominance of dairy brands in India’s food sector.
Amul Maintains Its Leadership
Amul, managed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), has retained its leadership in the food category. In the overall list of India’s top 100 brands across sectors, Amul holds the 17th position, reinforcing its strong national presence.
Mother Dairy Climbs to Second Place
Mother Dairy, based in Delhi-NCR, has moved up from the third to the second position in this year’s food brand rankings. It also improved its position in the overall top 100 Indian brands list, jumping from 41st in 2024 to 35th in 2025.
Dairy Sector’s Continued Strength
The top rankings reflect the consistent performance of India’s dairy sector. Both Amul and Mother Dairy attribute their success to the contributions of millions of dairy farmers. GCMMF MD Jayen Mehta and Mother Dairy MD Manish Bandlish credited their farmer networks and consumers for the recognition.
Mother Dairy’s Growing Business
Mother Dairy achieved a turnover of ₹17,500 crore in FY 2024–25, marking a 16% growth from the previous fiscal. Besides milk and milk products, the company also operates in edible oils under the ‘Dhara’ brand and fresh produce under the ‘Safal’ brand.
Amul’s Global Scale
GCMMF is the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, with 3.6 million farmers. It collects 32 million litres of milk daily and markets Amul products in over 50 countries. The group’s annual sales exceed $11 billion, distributing more than 24 billion product packs each year, including milk, butter, cheese, ghee, and ice cream.
The 2025 Brand Finance rankings reaffirm Amul’s dominance and Mother Dairy’s rising momentum in India’s food industry. With strong farmer participation and brand loyalty, these cooperatives continue to set benchmarks in both value and scale.
