The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has awarded a major contract to a consortium led by Siemens for implementing signalling and telecommunication systems for India’s first bullet train corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Key Consortium Partners

The selected consortium includes Siemens Limited, Siemens Mobility GmbH, and Dineshchandra R Agrawal (DRA) Infracon Pvt. Ltd. This group will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining advanced train control and communication systems.

Advanced Technology Integration

Under this ₹4,100 crore project, Siemens will install the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2-based signalling. This system enables high-speed travel up to 350 km/h, ensures continuous wireless communication, real-time monitoring, and centralised traffic control. ETCS Level 2 has already been adopted in over 50 countries globally.

Siemens’ Role and Contribution

Siemens Limited’s individual share in the project stands at ₹1,230 crore. It will provide 15 years of maintenance services to ensure operational reliability and longevity of the system.

Project Timeline

The signalling and telecom project is expected to be completed over a span of 54 months. The initiative is a key part of the broader bullet train infrastructure development.

Commitment to Make in India

Siemens CEO Sunil Mathur stated that the consortium is proud to contribute to this landmark project. He emphasized that the work aligns with the ‘Make in India’ mission and aims to deliver sustainable, future-ready mobility solutions.
