Southern Railway has announced temporary changes in train terminal points due to ongoing platform upgrade works at Chennai Egmore as part of the station’s redevelopment plan.
Trains to Operate From Tambaram
From June 20 to August 18, the following trains will depart from and terminate at Tambaram instead of Chennai Egmore:
- Chennai Egmore – Kollam Express
- Chennai Egmore – Madurai Tejas Express
- Chennai Egmore – Mannargudi Mannai Express
- Chennai Egmore – Tiruchendur Express
- Chennai Egmore – Guruvayur Express
Charminar Express to Shift to Chennai Beach
During this period, the Tambaram – Hyderabad Charminar Express will operate from Chennai Beach station, instead of Tambaram.
Purpose of the Change
These changes aim to facilitate the platform upgradation works underway at Chennai Egmore station as part of a broader redevelopment initiative by Southern Railway.
