In 2008, Bollywood actress Preity Zinta made a bold move by investing ₹35 crore to acquire a 23% stake in the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Punjab Kings. At the time, the IPL was a nascent venture, and Zinta’s decision was both unconventional and risky.

Fast forward to 2025, and that initial investment has appreciated tenfold, now valued at approximately ₹350 crore. This remarkable growth is attributed to the exponential increase in the IPL’s popularity, lucrative media rights deals, and the overall surge in franchise valuations.

Zinta’s active involvement with the team, often seen passionately supporting from the stands, has also played a role in enhancing the brand value of Punjab Kings. Her journey from the silver screen to the cricket field exemplifies how strategic investments in sports franchises can yield substantial returns.
