Infosys founder Narayana Murthy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) to create a fully-funded, inflation-adjusted scholarship for the two-year Post Graduate Programme (PGP). Named the ‘Professor Jaswant G Krishnayya Merit Scholarship,’ it will cover tuition, hostel fees, course materials, and mess charges annually for one top-performing student based on their first-year CGPA.

Murthy has committed to funding this scholarship for 20 years, with an estimated total value of ₹12 crores. The scholarship honors Professor Jaswant G Krishnayya, who played a significant role in Murthy’s early life and career.
Pankaj Patel, Chairperson of IIMA’s Board of Governors, highlighted Murthy’s long-standing connection with the institute since 1969 and praised the scholarship as a reflection of Murthy’s dedication to education and leadership development.
IIMA Director Prof. Bharat Bhasker expressed gratitude for Murthy’s generosity, emphasizing the scholarship’s role in promoting merit-based access to management education and celebrating the legacy of those who shaped IIMA.
Murthy said the scholarship aims to inspire students to pursue excellence and create positive societal impact, reinforcing Professor Krishnayya’s lasting influence.
The IIMA Endowment Fund (IIMAEF), responsible for fundraising and philanthropic initiatives, facilitated this partnership as part of its mission to ensure financial barriers do not hinder academic potential while strengthening IIMA’s global leadership in management education.
