Adani Group has introduced India’s first hydrogen-powered truck for mining logistics in Chhattisgarh. The truck can carry 40 tonnes of cargo over a 200-kilometre range and is part of the company’s effort to promote cleaner transportation. These trucks will eventually replace diesel vehicles used in logistics.
Collaboration for Clean Technology
The project is a partnership between Adani Enterprises, an energy technology firm, and an auto manufacturer. The hydrogen-powered trucks are equipped with advanced technology and three hydrogen tanks to carry heavy cargo.

Support from Chhattisgarh Government
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched the first hydrogen truck in Raipur. The truck will transport coal to the state’s power plant. CM Sai emphasized the state’s commitment to sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint.
Adani’s Push for Sustainable Mining
Adani Group aims to reduce its environmental impact by using hydrogen-powered trucks and adopting other sustainable mining practices. The group is also using technologies like autonomous dozers and solar power in its mining operations.
Joint Effort for Green Technology
Adani Natural Resources (ANR) and Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) are working together on the project. ANR will source hydrogen cells from ANIL, which also focuses on green energy and battery technology.
Environmental Benefits of Hydrogen Trucks
Hydrogen trucks produce only water vapour and warm air, making them a cleaner alternative to diesel trucks. They offer similar performance but with less pollution and noise, contributing to a cleaner environment in mining areas.
Adani’s Innovative Mining Technology
Adani Natural Resources is also leading in mining safety and sustainability with its semi-autonomous dozer technology. The company’s diverse operations include coal, minerals, and metals processing, all with a focus on sustainability.
