Paras Milk, a major dairy brand in India, started with just 60 litres of milk. Founded by Ved Ram Nagar, the company has grown to become one of the biggest competitors of Mother Dairy and Amul in the dairy industry. Today, it supplies 3.6 million litres of milk daily, serving millions of households across the country.

Ved Ram Nagar’s Vision and Expansion

Born in 1933, Ved Ram Nagar started as a small milk seller, selling 50-60 litres daily. He soon realized that proper milk processing and large-scale distribution could turn dairy into a big business.

  • In 1980, he established his first firm.
  • In 1984, he set up a unit for milk processing.
  • In 1986, he founded V.R.S. Foods, which later became Paras Milk.

The big breakthrough came in 1987, when he launched a large-scale milk plant in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad. Another plant followed in Gulavathi (1992), solidifying Paras as a major dairy brand.

Growing Beyond Delhi-NCR

In 2004, Paras expanded outside Delhi-NCR by setting up a milk plant in Gwalior. After Ved Ram Nagar’s passing in 2005, his sons took over the business, rebranding it as Vedram and Sons Private Limited in 2008.

Under this new leadership, Paras launched a variety of dairy products, including ghee, butter, cheese, curd, and flavoured milk, making it a household name.

Diversification into Other Sectors

Beyond dairy, the company has expanded into healthcare, real estate, education, and pharmaceuticals. The Nagar family remains influential in politics and social work, with Surendra Singh Nagar serving as a Rajya Sabha MP. Their Chaudhary Ved Ram Charitable Trust focuses on education and healthcare initiatives.

A Nationwide Dairy Network

Paras Milk now operates across Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh, directly connecting with 5,400 villages. Thousands of farmers benefit from its financial support and dairy purchases, strengthening the rural economy. With a strong market presence and constant expansion, Paras Milk continues to thrive, proving that even the smallest beginnings can lead to massive success in the business world.
