Authorities in Abu Dhabi have introduced new guidelines aimed at preserving the aesthetic appeal of public roads and creating a more organized urban environment. One key rule prohibits placing laundry or cleaning carpets and other coverings on balconies or windows that overlook public roads.

Fines for Violations
The Department of Municipalities and Transport issued a warning on Sunday via social media about the penalties for these violations. The fines for improperly placing drying racks outside windows or balconies range from Dh500 for a first-time violation to Dh2,000 for repeated offenses.
- First-time violation: Dh500 fine
- Second-time violation: Dh1,000 fine
- Further violations: Dh2,000 fine
Similar fines will be applied to those who clean or place carpets and coverings on windows or balconies facing public roads.
Efforts to Improve City Appearance
Residents have been consistently reminded not to hang laundry from balconies, windows, or railings, as it distorts the visual appeal of buildings. The Abu Dhabi municipality emphasized that airing laundry in such a manner is not permitted and harms the city’s image.
Additional Regulations on Abandoned Vehicles
In addition to these rules, Abu Dhabi recently imposed regulations targeting abandoned vehicles on public streets. Vehicle owners will face significant penalties for leaving their vehicles in a manner that negatively impacts the city’s appearance, including leaving them dirty or unattended.
