Docker Vision, a Kerala-based startup specializing in AI and computer vision, has received a ₹1 crore grant from USHUS, the maritime startup engagement program of Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) in collaboration with IIT Madras. The award was announced during the Dedication Ceremony of Terra Maris on April 7, 2025, at Cochin Shipyard as part of the Green Tug Transition Program.
Event Highlights and Leadership Endorsements
The ceremony was attended by Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, who praised the innovative technologies that support sustainability and efficiency in India’s maritime space. Shri Madhu S Nair, Chairman and Director of CSL, delivered the welcome address and emphasized the need to nurture innovation and upskill the youth to support the transformation of India’s port, shipping, and inland waterways ecosystem.

Alignment with National Maritime Visions
Docker Vision’s recognition comes at a time when India’s maritime sector is rapidly evolving under two major national programs — Maritime India Vision (MIV) 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047. These programs aim to enhance India’s global maritime stature and technological leadership.
Docker Vision’s OCR Technology for Ports and Terminals
The startup was awarded the grant for its AI-powered OCR (Optical Character Recognition) solutions, which automate the identification of containers, vehicles, and shipping documents. The technology is designed to reduce manual effort, improve traceability, and accelerate port and logistics operations across terminals.
Leadership Statements from Docker Vision
Docker Vision CEO Prajith Nair said the grant is a major milestone that supports their goal of using deep tech to improve maritime and logistics systems, and helps boost their work with IIT Madras and Cochin Shipyard under India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.
Athira M, CTO of Docker Vision, added that the funding will enable the company to accelerate its research and deployment efforts.
Positioning India as a Maritime Tech Leader
Docker Vision’s recognition reinforces its commitment to building indigenous AI technologies that align with India’s long-term maritime visions. The startup aims to contribute significantly to India’s goal of becoming a global leader in smart, secure, and sustainable port infrastructure.
