Pioneer Corporation has announced its plan to start manufacturing in-car products in India from 2026, reinforcing its commitment to one of Asia’s fastest-growing automotive markets. This decision follows the establishment of a research and development (R&D) center in the country in 2023.

Focus on Display Audio and Future Expansion
Initially, the company will manufacture Display Audio products for automakers, with plans to expand into a wider range of in-car products for both factory installation and retail distribution. Pioneer will collaborate with local contractors to set up its production operations.
Strategic Move for Localized Production
Pioneer’s President and CEO, Shiro Yahara, emphasized the importance of this shift, stating that local production will allow the company to serve Indian automakers more efficiently. This step is expected to strengthen Pioneer’s position as a key player in India’s booming automobile industry.

Strengthening India’s Automotive Ecosystem
By building an end-to-end value chain—including B2B sales, R&D, manufacturing, and after-sales support—Pioneer aims to enhance product design flexibility, shorten delivery timelines, and improve service quality.
Alignment with India’s “Make in India” Initiative
Pioneer’s expansion aligns with the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative, which promotes domestic manufacturing. India’s automotive sector has seen rapid growth, making it an attractive hub for global suppliers.

A Legacy of Innovation and Global Strategy
Founded in 1938 in Tokyo, Pioneer has a legacy in audio and in-car entertainment systems. The company is evolving into a mobility solutions provider, bringing in global executives and expanding R&D facilities in India and Germany as part of its broader transformation strategy.
