Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has expanded its bus-on-demand service to 10 major locations, including Oud Metha and Barsha Heights. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity, offering residents and commuters a flexible and affordable transportation option while helping to ease traffic congestion in busy areas.

Affordable and Accessible Travel

The service, priced at just Dh5 per trip per person, was already operating in several busy areas. It has now been extended to more locations, offering an affordable and practical option for daily commuters.

Growing Demand and Network Expansion

Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, highlighted the service’s popularity, particularly following its expansion to Business Bay in early 2023 and Downtown Dubai by the end of 2024. “The strong demand from public transport users has driven this expansion, ensuring smoother and safer travel between key zones,” he stated.

Smart Technology for Seamless Travel

The service operates through an intelligent response system, enabling users to book trips via a smart app. The app allows passengers to plan routes, track buses in real time, and make digital payments—all with a few taps on their smartphones.

Efficient Operations and International Standards

The bus-on-demand service uses 13-seater minibuses operating within designated zones. Passengers can communicate with drivers via the app to arrange pick-up points for added convenience. RTA designed the system after studying user preferences, traffic patterns, and international best practices from countries like Spain, Germany, the US, and Finland to ensure efficiency and comfort.

Easy Access to the Service

To use the service, residents can download the Bus-On-Demand app from the Apple Store and Google Play Store, making smart mobility more accessible across Dubai.
