ISRO has announced the Young Scientist Programme, YUVIKA 2025, an exciting opportunity for Class 9 students to explore space science and technology. This initiative aims to inspire young minds and encourage them to pursue STEM careers.

What is YUVIKA?
YUVIKA (YUva VIgyani KAryakram) is ISRO’s flagship programme designed to introduce students to space technology and its applications. The programme features hands-on learning experiences, interactive sessions, and expert guidance. It aligns with ISRO’s goal to “Catch Them Young” and nurture future scientists.
Who Can Apply?
- Students currently studying in Class 9 (as of 1 January 2025) in any Indian school.
- Selection is based on academic performance, extracurricular achievements, and preference for students from rural backgrounds.

Selection Criteria
ISRO will evaluate applicants based on:
- Class 8 marks (50%)
- Online quiz performance (10%)
- Participation in science fairs (2-10%)
- Rank in Olympiads (2-5%)
- Sports achievements (2-5%)
- Involvement in Scouts/Guides/NCC/NSS (5%)
- School location (rural or panchayat area) (15%)

- First Selection List Announcement: 7 April 2025
- Programme Duration: 19 – 30 May 2025
- Student Send-off: 31 May 2025

Selected students will visit one of ISRO’s prestigious centres, including:
- Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (Thiruvananthapuram)
- Satish Dhawan Space Centre (Sriharikota)
- UR Rao Satellite Centre (Bengaluru)
- Space Applications Centre (Ahmedabad)
- National Remote Sensing Centre (Hyderabad)
- Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (Dehradun)
- North-Eastern Space Applications Centre (Shillong)

Travel & Expenses
ISRO will cover all expenses, including lodging, boarding, and study materials. Students will also be reimbursed for Second AC train fare or AC bus fare (Volvo) upon submission of travel tickets.
