Tata Motors, in collaboration with DIMO, has officially launched a new range of passenger vehicles in Sri Lanka. The lineup includes both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles (EV), catering to a diverse customer base. Among the newly introduced models are the Tata Punch, Nexon, and Curvv SUVs, along with the Tiago.ev electric hatchback.

Showcasing Tata’s Expanding EV Portfolio

The event also featured a preview of Tata’s growing electric vehicle portfolio, including the Punch.ev, Nexon.ev, and Curvv.ev. This move underscores Tata Motors’ commitment to expanding its footprint in the EV sector and promoting sustainable transportation options.

Strategic International Expansion

Yash Khandelwal, Head of International Business at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., highlighted this launch as a significant step in Tata Motors’ global business strategy. He emphasized that the new vehicles blend advanced design, top-tier features, and robust safety standards, all supported by a strong after-sales network. The Tiago.ev, which has already gained traction in India, Nepal, and Bhutan, is expected to make a significant impact in Sri Lanka’s automotive market.

First Passenger Vehicle Brand to Enter Sri Lanka Post-Market Reopening

Rajeev Pandithage, Executive Director of DIMO, noted that Tata Motors is the first passenger vehicle brand to enter the Sri Lankan market since its reopening. He highlighted the affordability of the new vehicle range and DIMO’s commitment to providing strong after-sales service and support to customers.

Warranty and After-Sales Support

Tata Motors is offering extensive warranty coverage to ensure reliability and customer satisfaction. ICE vehicles come with a three-year or 100,000 km warranty, while electric models are covered for three years or 125,000 km. Additionally, EV batteries and motors are backed by an eight-year or 165,000 km warranty. DIMO will also provide 24-hour roadside assistance and technical support, ensuring a seamless ownership experience.

Tata Motors’ Leadership in the EV Market

As a leader in India’s EV market with a 70% share, Tata Motors has been actively expanding its international footprint. The Tiago.ev, launched in India in 2022, was positioned as one of the most affordable electric vehicles at the time, making it an attractive choice for emerging markets like Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’s Shift Towards Sustainable Mobility

Following recent economic challenges, Sri Lanka has been working towards stabilizing its automotive sector. The government has expressed interest in electric mobility as part of its sustainability initiatives and efforts to reduce dependence on fuel imports. Tata Motors’ entry into the Sri Lankan market aligns with these objectives, reinforcing its commitment to providing advanced and eco-friendly mobility solutions.

With this launch, Tata Motors is set to strengthen its presence in South Asia, offering a mix of traditional and electric vehicles that cater to a wide range of consumers while supporting the transition towards greener transportation.
