Meta fires employees for leaking confidential information as Mark Zuckerberg's company enforces strict crackdown on internal leaks

Meta, led by Mark Zuckerberg, has dismissed around 20 employees for leaking confidential information to the media. A company spokesperson confirmed the action and indicated that more terminations would follow.

Meta’s Stance on Information Leaks

A Meta representative stated that employees are regularly reminded about the company’s policies against sharing internal details. “We recently conducted an investigation that resulted in roughly 20 employees being terminated for sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect more terminations,” the spokesperson said, emphasizing the company’s strict approach to leaks.

Declining Employee Morale

Reports suggest that morale among Meta employees has dropped, especially after changes to content moderation policies and the termination of DEI programs. Additionally, layoffs targeting low-performing staff have added to the dissatisfaction within the company.

Meta CTO’s Reaction to Leaks

Meta’s Chief Technology Officer, Andrew Bosworth, recently addressed the issue of leaks during an internal meeting. He pointed out that leaking information does not necessarily pressure the company to make changes; instead, it often has the opposite effect.

A previous internal meeting involving Bosworth was also leaked. Following that incident, he commented in an internal group, noting that it appeared an entire audio feed had been handed to a journalist.
