Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, assured full support from the Narendra Modi-led government for Kerala’s development. Speaking via video message at the Invest Kerala Global Summit (IKGS) 2025, he announced road projects worth ₹3 lakh crore for the state.
Gadkari, currently abroad, revealed 31 new road projects worth ₹50,000 crore. He emphasized Kerala’s potential in tourism, MSMEs, coir, geotextiles, rubber, and Ayurveda. His ministry has completed projects worth ₹20,000 crore, with ₹60,000 crore worth of projects ongoing.

Key projects include:
120 km road construction in five packages worth ₹10,840 crore, set to begin within three months.
Palakkad-Kozhikode connectivity project worth ₹10,800 crore, linking northern Kerala with Salem.
Ernakulam bypass (Angamaly-Kundannoor Bypass), a ₹6,500 crore project reducing travel time from 1.5 hours to 20 minutes.
Thiruvananthapuram Outer Ring Road (68.7 km) at ₹5,000 crore, improving access to Vizhinjam port.
Four-laning of Edamon-Kollam NH, a ₹3,000 crore project cutting travel time between Kollam and Madurai from six to two hours.
Gadkari highlighted Kerala’s rich history, culture, healthcare, and education, calling it a key state in India’s development.
