Zypp Electric plans to add 100,000 electric two-wheelers in the next 12-18 months, partnering with Indofast Energy. This builds on their earlier success of deploying 10,000 EVs across India.

The expansion will cover Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, and Jaipur, aligning with Zypp Electric’s target of full electrification by 2028. Co-founder Tushar Mehta emphasized that this move will strengthen their position in India and support future expansion into Southeast Asia, the Gulf, and Africa.

Indofast Energy, a joint venture between IndianOil and SUN Mobility, will provide battery-swapping stations, enabling quick swaps in just 60 seconds. Rajat Malhan, Senior VP at Indofast Energy, called this a major step toward electrifying India’s logistics sector.

Currently, Indofast Energy operates 670+ swap stations across 20 cities, conducting over a million swaps monthly. It aims to expand to 10,000 stations in 50+ cities within three years.

India’s EV sector is growing rapidly, driven by government policies and rising fuel costs. Battery swapping helps overcome key adoption challenges like high battery costs, maintenance, and charging time.

Founded in 2017, Zypp Electric runs an EV-as-a-service platform for last-mile logistics. With over 22,000 EVs in its fleet, the company plans to scale up to 500,000 vehicles in the next 3-4 years.
