WeVois, a pioneering waste management startup founded in 2018 by Abhinav Shekhar Vashistha and Abhishek Gupta, is transforming waste collection processes in India with its innovative use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology. A Scalable, Profitable Business Model
What started as a college project in 2016—organizing zero-waste festivals and designing smart dustbins—has now evolved into a highly scalable and profitable waste management enterprise. By incorporating IoT into its operations, WeVois ensures efficient and optimized waste collection, which has been a major challenge in India’s urban areas. Traditional waste collection methods often miss 30-40% of households, contributing to open dumping and burning. The WeVois app solves this by creating optimized collection routes, tracking performance with RFID technology, and rewarding waste collectors based on their efficiency.

Expansion and Innovation in Waste Collection
Currently operating in 20 municipalities across Rajasthan, with pilot projects in Dehradun and Jammu & Kashmir, WeVois employs over 1,000 workers and provides social benefits, including health insurance, to its workforce. The company’s technology extends beyond just waste collection. WeVois has also set up waste segregation and processing plants, ensuring that waste is efficiently sorted before being sent to recyclers. This innovation is vital in tackling the issue of unreliable and contaminated waste at processing plants.

Financial Growth and Future Vision
WeVois’ growth has been impressive. After bootstrapping the business from 2018 to 2021, the company secured ₹20 lakh in a grant from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in 2022. That same year, it raised ₹4.4 crore in seed funding, followed by ₹36 crore in Series A funding in 2025 from investors like Negen Capital, Vyom Ventures, and Marshot. In FY24, the company achieved ₹33 crore in revenue and a profit after tax (PAT) of ₹2.91 crore. With a projected revenue of ₹50 crore by FY25, WeVois is set for continued success, with an estimated 10% PAT.
Aiming for 100 Zero-Waste Cities
Looking ahead, Abhinav Shekhar Vashistha has set an ambitious goal for WeVois to create 100 zero-waste cities across India within the next decade. While challenges like user behavior and the dense population of Indian cities persist, Vashistha remains optimistic about the company’s future. He believes that, with the right strategies and innovations, solving India’s waste management problems is within reach.
