Hundreds of vehicles were stopped the previous day to prevent overcrowding. Police in Katni and Maihar instructed drivers to return to nearby towns like Katni and Jabalpur. A 200-300 km jam has made it nearly impossible to proceed towards Prayagraj.
Social Media Shows Extent of Jam
Videos on social media highlight massive queues of cars and trucks, with people stuck for hours on roads across Madhya Pradesh. The situation is being referred to as the “biggest traffic jam in the world.”
Authorities Predict Relief in Coming Days
Rewa’s police chief, Saket Prakash Pandey, stated that the situation should improve in a few days. Despite ongoing congestion, the Madhya Pradesh police are coordinating with Prayagraj authorities to manage the flow of traffic.
State Government’s Appeal for Caution
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav urged pilgrims to delay travel plans for the next couple of days to avoid further congestion. He reassured that the state government has provided essential services, including food and water, to help pilgrims on their journey.
