Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), the maker of the iconic Mysore Sandal Soap, is planning an aggressive marketing campaign to increase revenue. The company is expected to sign Bollywood actor Tamannaah Bhatia as its new brand ambassador to appeal to younger consumers.
Rebranding and Expanding Reach
KSDL intends to maintain the brand’s classic look while enhancing its visibility. A rebranding initiative, set to be unveiled at the Invest Karnataka Global Investors Meet, is aimed at increasing the brand’s presence, especially in North India, where the soap holds only a 6% market share.
Mysore Sandal Soap’s Global Plans
KSDL plans to expand its market share globally. While the soap is already available in 23 countries, the company targets expanding to 80 countries by March 2026. The brand has also caught attention internationally, with celebrity chef Vikas Khanna gifting Hollywood star Anne Hathaway Mysore Sandal Soap.
E-Commerce Push and Counterfeit Prevention
The company is focusing on e-commerce to increase sales and target younger buyers. Additionally, to combat counterfeiting, KSDL plans to include QR codes on their products for consumers to verify authenticity. The company also has plans to set up new manufacturing plants to reduce transportation costs.
