A Karnataka couple’s innovative double-decker car, which serves as their home during the Maha Kumbh 2025 at Prayagraj, has caught the attention of business tycoon Anand Mahindra. Known for his interest in creative vehicle modifications, Mahindra expressed his admiration for such ingenuity, especially when it involves transforming ordinary vehicles into living spaces.

Transforming a Toyota Innova into a Mobile Home

The couple’s car, a modified Toyota Innova, has been converted into a fully functional mobile home. The modifications cost them around Rs 2 lakh—Rs 1 lakh went into installing a rooftop tent, and the other Rs 1 lakh was used for adding a fully equipped kitchen. To ensure they can stay off the grid, the vehicle is also powered by a solar panel.

Plans for the Future

The couple plans to stay at the Kumbh Mela for an extended period, utilizing their customized setup to live comfortably during the event. Afterward, they aim to embark on a six-month road trip, possibly traveling to Nepal. The husband, a fan of Anand Mahindra, expressed excitement about the journey ahead. Meanwhile, the wife shared that they source fresh vegetables through an e-commerce platform to meet their cooking needs while on the road.

Praise from Netizens

The video of their modified car home quickly went viral, with netizens showering the couple with praise. Many admired their creativity and resourcefulness, with some commenting on India’s ability to innovate through “jugaad” (improvised solutions). Others appreciated the idea of a “perfect camping van” and celebrated the couple for embracing the van life.

A Global Inspiration

This story showcases how creativity and resourcefulness can turn an ordinary vehicle into something extraordinary. The couple’s transformation of a Toyota Innova into a mobile home has inspired many, sparking curiosity and admiration both in India and worldwide.
