Swedish supplier Robot System Products (RSP) has launched its first production facility outside Sweden, located in Chennai, India, through its subsidiary Scandinavian Robot Systems India Private Limited. This expansion, initiated in November 2023, marks a significant milestone for the company as it aims to cater to the growing industrial automation market in India.

Growth and Expansion in India

In 2024, RSP saw notable growth, particularly within India’s automotive and Tier-1 automotive ancillary sectors. To improve customer service, RSP opened a branch office in Pune, enhancing its presence in western India. The Chennai facility focuses on producing key components such as automatic tool changers, swivels, tool parking stands, and cable & hose management solutions, utilizing a robust supplier network in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

India’s Booming Industrial Robot Market

India’s industrial robot market has been rapidly expanding. According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), India was the fastest-growing market for industrial robots in 2023, with installations increasing by 50%. This growth has established India as the 10th largest robotics market worldwide.

RSP’s Commitment to India’s Manufacturing Future

Eddie Eriksson, President and CEO of RSP, expressed confidence in the Indian market’s potential, emphasizing the rapid growth and RSP’s strategic positioning. With the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative, RSP is ready to support local industries with flexible, high-quality automation solutions.

Arvind Vasu, Managing Director of RSP’s India subsidiary, highlighted the role of robot-based automation in enhancing productivity, particularly in sectors like automotive electric vehicles, electronics, and general manufacturing.
