A new concept pub is opening in London where patrons pay based on their net worth. Oxfam is launching “The Fair Pour” for one night only in Holborn, aimed at highlighting the issue of growing wealth inequality. The pub will serve non-alcoholic drinks like mocktails, pints, and wines, offering a unique twist for those participating in Dry January or not. It will be open on January 21, from 12pm to 9pm, with a pub quiz from 7pm to 8pm.
This pop-up event coincides with the Davos World Economic Forum, where global leaders discuss pressing issues like inequality. The drinks menu includes creative mocktails like “Old Money Fashioned” and “Billionaire’s Breeze.”
The event underscores Oxfam’s call for action on wealth disparity, stressing the need for solutions like progressive taxation and public service investments to foster a fairer society. The Fair Pour aims to spark conversations about how a fairer tax system could create more equal opportunities.
