How PR Sundar, a former school teacher, brought his Rolls Royce Phantom to Chennai from Dubai

Social media has become a significant part of everyday life, and many individuals are turning their passion for content creation into full-time careers. One such individual is PR Sundar, a former school teacher turned popular figure in India’s stock market community. Known for his consistent online presence, Sundar’s success is a testament to how dedication and quality content can lead to remarkable achievements.

A notable example of Sundar’s success story is his purchase of a Rolls Royce Phantom in Dubai, which he later brought to Chennai. He shares his experience in a video with Behindwoods O2, where he discusses the process of acquiring and shipping the car to India.

Unlike many luxury car owners, Sundar prefers to drive his Rolls Royce himself. In the video, he not only takes the wheel but also allows the video anchor to drive the car around the streets of Chennai.

Sundar’s decision to ship the Rolls Royce to Chennai was inspired by a trend he noticed among car owners from Kerala who used the Carnet system to import their vehicles temporarily. After encountering initial resistance from Chennai authorities unfamiliar with the process, Sundar worked with an agent to handle the paperwork and bring the car to India. The car was shipped from Dubai, where it had been placed in a shipping container while the formalities were being sorted out.

Using the Carnet system, which is a temporary import permit that exempts a vehicle from import taxes and duties, Sundar was able to import the Phantom for a period of 6 to 12 months. This allowed him to enjoy the car in Chennai without paying the hefty import taxes that would normally apply. Sundar mentions that the car cost him around Rs 6-7 crore in Dubai, whereas in India, the same vehicle would cost nearly Rs 14 crore. Additionally, Sundar only had to spend around Rs 7-8 lakh to cover the shipping and formalities.

The reason for bringing the car to Chennai was deeply personal—he wanted to use the Rolls Royce for his son’s wedding. Sundar also shared how his humble beginnings made owning such a luxury car unimaginable in his earlier years. Bringing the car to Chennai was also a way for him to honor his late father. Sundar plans to keep the car in India for six months before shipping it back to Dubai.
