In a move aimed at supporting young Emiratis as they start families, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, approved a housing project to construct over 3,000 homes with an estimated cost of Dh5.4 billion.
A Step Toward Family Stability
The project is part of the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme, launched on January 4, 2025. This program is designed to improve family stability, quality of life, and work-life balance through various financial, social, and educational initiatives.
“Our goal is to encourage young people to get married, provide decent housing for families, and improve their quality of life as they begin their journey together,” Sheikh Mohammed said while announcing the approval.
Homes for Participants in Dubai Weddings Initiative
The new residential units will be prioritized for those involved in the ‘Dubai Weddings’ initiative, a program designed to support young Emiratis by easing the financial burden of marriage. The beneficiaries will be allocated homes across several areas in Dubai, including:
- 1,181 homes in Latifa City
- 432 homes in Wadi Al Amardi
- 200 homes in Makan, Hatta
- 67 homes in rural and countryside areas
- 606 homes in Al Yalayis 5
- 398 homes in Al Awir 1
- 120 homes in Oud Al Muteena
Continued Support for Emirati Families
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the continued commitment of the Dubai leadership to the prosperity and stability of Emirati families. He added that the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme will also provide other significant benefits, including a 10-day paid marriage leave for government employees and a remote work option for mothers during their child’s first year.
Additionally, the program reduces housing loan premiums to Dh3,333 a month for those eligible for the Dubai Weddings initiative, given their monthly income does not exceed Dh30,000.
This initiative aligns with the Dubai government’s vision of creating a stronger, more stable future for its citizens.
