The MG Windsor EV is quickly becoming one of the most popular electric vehicles (EVs) in India. It has topped sales charts for three months in a row, beating rival car brands and making a strong mark in the growing EV market.
Strong Sales Performance
JSW MG Motor India announced that the Windsor EV has led the electric passenger vehicle segment for three consecutive months. In December, it sold 3,785 units, following solid sales of 3,116 units in October and 3,144 units in November. With over 10,000 units sold since its launch, the Windsor EV is showing impressive growth, especially considering the Indian electric car market is still new, making up less than 3% of all car sales.
Affordable Pricing and Great Range
The Windsor EV is priced between Rs 13.50 lakh and Rs 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom), offering a range of 332 km on a full charge, according to ARAI. For a lower cost option, MG also offers a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, letting buyers get the car for Rs 9.99 lakh, with Rs 3.5 per kilometer as battery rental.
Competitors in the Market
Although the Windsor EV doesn’t have a direct competitor, there are other budget electric vehicles like the Tata Tiago.ev, Tata Punch.ev, Tata Nexon.ev, Tata Curvv.ev, Mahindra XUV400, and Citroen E-C3. However, the Windsor EV stands out for its performance and features.
MG’s Growing Presence
In December, MG sold 7,516 vehicles, with 70% of them being electric, showing the growing demand for EVs. Along with the Windsor EV, MG also sells the Comet EV and the ZS EV.
A Diverse Lineup
MG also offers a range of traditional fuel-powered cars, including the Astor, Hector, and Gloster, catering to a wider range of customers.
Overall, the MG Windsor EV is making a big impact in India’s electric car market, with its affordable pricing and impressive performance. It’s well-positioned to continue its strong sales as the demand for electric cars in India grows.
