Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), renowned for its Mysore Sandal Soap, is preparing to boost its reach by adding approximately 480 new distributors across India in 2025.
Reaching New Regions
Traditionally available in southern states, the brand now plans to expand into regions like Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland, Gujarat, Punjab, and others to enhance its presence.
Brand Refresh for 2025
The iconic Mysore Sandal Soap, known for its oval shape, red and green packaging, and tagline “The only soap with 100% pure sandalwood oil,” is set to undergo a brand refresh next year with a new logo and tagline.
Southern States Lead Sales
Around 81% of KSDL’s sales come from southern states, with Andhra Pradesh topping the list, followed by Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. This success is attributed to cultural connections and effective marketing. However, KSDL now aims to introduce its 108-year-old legacy to the rest of India.
Focus on E-Commerce and Modern Retail
KSDL plans to expand its online presence by partnering with e-commerce platforms, enabling customers nationwide to purchase its products. Additionally, the company will place its products in popular malls and Metro stations in cities like Hyderabad and Delhi, beyond Bengaluru.
Record-Breaking Performance
KSDL achieved a turnover of ₹1,500 crore in March 2024, its highest in 40 years. Officials credit this milestone to diversification and enhanced marketing strategies.
KSDL continues to represent Karnataka’s heritage, with Mysore Sandal Soap remaining its flagship product.
