Dubai has officially introduced drone deliveries for medicines and parcels, marking a milestone in smart mobility and logistics. Keeta Drone, the first licensed operator, will initially deploy six drones at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO).
First Drone License Awarded
The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) awarded Keeta Drone its first license, enabling operations in DSO. Four delivery routes have been established, covering key locations such as Rochester Institute of Technology-Dubai and Dubai Digital Park.
A Decade of Drone Innovation
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, emphasized Dubai’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology for a flexible digital economy. He recalled the UAE Drones for Good Award introduced a decade ago, highlighting the achievement of operational readiness for drone delivery.
Expanding Reach Across Dubai
Dubai aims to expand drone delivery to cover 33% of the emirate by 2030. Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, director-general of DCAA, affirmed the system’s safety after extensive testing over 1.5 years. Keeta Drone plans to extend routes beyond DSO in the coming phases.
International Expertise and Collaboration
Keeta Drone, a subsidiary of Chinese tech giant Meituan, has extensive experience in drone logistics. The company has completed over 400,000 deliveries across major Chinese cities and now aims to replicate its success in Dubai.
