Maitri Patel, at just 19 years old, holds the prestigious title of India’s youngest female commercial pilot. Despite financial struggles, Maitri’s parents supported her aspirations, with her father, Kantilal Patel, selling part of their family land to fund her pilot training in the United States.
Early Aspirations
Maitri’s fascination with flying began at the age of eight when she saw a pilot and an airplane for the first time. This vision stayed with her, and after completing her 12th grade in science at Metas Adventist School, she set her sights on a career in aviation.
Accelerated Training Journey
The commercial pilot training program, typically an 18-month course, was completed by Maitri in just 11 months. Her exceptional dedication enabled her to achieve certification swiftly. Recalling her first solo flight at 3,500 feet, Maitri described it as a dream come true.
