Early Life and Musical Foundations

Born on July 20, 1996, in Mumbai, Mohini Dey was surrounded by music from an early age. Her father, Sujoy Dey, a well-respected session musician, noticed her musical talent early on and guided her towards the bass guitar. By the age of 11, Mohini was already performing professionally. Her remarkable skill and potential caught the attention of jazz legend Louis Banks, who mentored her, helping her hone her craft.

Career Highlights

Mohini’s career took off when she began collaborating with AR Rahman, which led to international recognition. Her ability to blend technical skill with emotional depth in her performances became a highlight of Rahman’s live shows and studio recordings. In 2023, Mohini released her debut self-titled album, which was met with critical acclaim for its innovation and versatility. Her career has since included collaborations with a diverse range of artists, pushing the boundaries of bass guitar music. In 2024, she reached a new milestone by joining Willow Smith’s band, further cementing her global influence.

Personal Life and Recent Separation

However, in 2024, Mohini announced their amicable separation. Both have expressed a desire to maintain a professional relationship and continue their mutual love for music, with Mohini taking to social media to reassure fans of their enduring bond.

Multilingual and Globally Recognized

Fluent in Marathi, Hindi, Bengali, and English, Mohini Dey’s linguistic skills allow her to engage with diverse audiences worldwide. Her musical talent and ability to connect with people from different cultures have played a key role in her growing international fame.
