The Vande Bharat Express is India’s first engine-less train and offers a luxurious travel experience, even better than the famous Rajdhani Express. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15, 2019, and continues to run on several routes today.
Speed of Vande Bharat Trains
During its trials, the Vande Bharat Express reached speeds of 183 km/h (114 mph), but it now runs at 160 km/h (99 mph) due to track limits. In 2023, the train got a new look with saffron and grey colors, and 25 safety improvements were added.
Where It Runs
As of August 31, 2024, there are 61 Vande Bharat trains running, including 16-car and 8-car trains, on different routes across India.
Special Features of Vande Bharat Trains
Vande Bharat trains are packed with modern features. They have comfortable seats, automatic doors, and revolving chairs in the executive class. There is also a mini kitchen on board, where passengers can enjoy snacks, drinks, and hot meals during their journey.
For safety, every coach is equipped with CCTV cameras, making sure passengers feel secure. With all these features, Vande Bharat Express is a game-changer in Indian Railways.
