Starting November 26, 2024, from Nagercoil, and November 29, 2024, from Gandhidham BG, the Nagercoil-Gandhidham Express (Train No. 16336/16335) will feature upgraded LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) coaches. This move by Southern Railway promises enhanced safety and comfort for passengers.
Why the Shift to LHB Coaches?
The transition to LHB coaches brings multiple benefits. These coaches are designed to be anti-telescopic, significantly reducing the risk of coaches piling up during accidents. Additionally, they offer better crashworthiness and improved suspension systems, ensuring a smoother and safer journey.
New Coach Composition
Here’s the revised layout for the Nagercoil-Gandhidham Express:
- 1 AC Two Tier Coach
- 5 AC Three Tier Coaches
- 11 Sleeper Class Coaches
- 2 General Second Class Coaches
- 1 Second Class Coach (Divyangjan Friendly)
- 1 Luggage Cum Brake Van
The Divyangjan-friendly coach is equipped with features to make train travel accessible and inclusive for differently-abled passengers.
Part of Indian Railways’ Modernization Drive
Southern Railway emphasized that this upgrade aligns with Indian Railways’ larger mission to modernize its fleet, enhancing safety and improving the travel experience for all passengers.
