The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) is accepting applications for the Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant (PM ECRG). This grant offers funding of up to ₹60 lakh over three years, aiming to improve research and innovation in India. The application deadline is November 19, 2024.
Financial Support and Management
The PM ECRG provides substantial financial backing, covering overhead costs to help researchers effectively manage their resources. This grant supports early-career researchers by offering tools to explore innovative ideas in various fields.
A New Approach to Research Funding
Launched under the ANRF Act of 2023, the foundation is chaired by the Prime Minister and promotes a research-driven culture in the country. The PM ECRG replaces the former Startup Research Grant (SRG) from the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), providing a modern solution for supporting emerging researchers.
Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the PM ECRG, candidates must hold a PhD in Science or Engineering or an equivalent degree in medical or veterinary sciences. Applicants should have joined their institutions on or after February 1, 2022, with an age limit of 42 years. There is a three-year age extension for SC/ST/OBC candidates, women, and individuals with disabilities, calculated as of February 1, 2024.
Application Process
Applications can be submitted online through the ANRF portal (www.anrfonline.in). Individuals registered with SERB can log in using their existing credentials.
Key Features of the Grant
The grant includes up to ₹60 lakh for research, with flexibility in resource management, manpower recruitment, and funding for travel, contingencies, and open access publications. A maximum of 700 grants will be awarded annually across all subject areas.
