The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) has introduced a major update for Indian nationals. Now, Indian citizens holding valid visas or residence permits for the European Union (EU), the United States (US), or the United Kingdom (UK) can receive a visa-on-arrival when entering the UAE.
Previous Visa Requirements
Earlier, only Indian nationals with residence permits in the US, UK, and EU could benefit from this facility. Under the new rules, Indian passport holders with regular passports are now eligible for a visa-on-arrival at any UAE entry point, provided they meet specific conditions.
Eligibility Conditions
To qualify for a visa-on-arrival, Indian citizens must have:
- A valid visa, residence permit, or green card from the US.
- A valid visa or residence permit from any EU country or the UK.
- A passport valid for at least six months.
Visa Options and Fees
Eligible Indian travellers can obtain a 14-day visa-on-arrival, extendable for another 14 days. Alternatively, they can apply for a 60-day visa by paying the required fees. The visa fees are as follows:
- AED 100 for a 14-day visa.
- AED 250 for an additional 14-day extension.
- AED 250 for a 60-day visa.
Strengthening UAE-India Relations
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of the ICA, emphasised that this initiative will strengthen the strategic partnership between the UAE and India. It is expected to enhance travel and tourism between the two nations, making entry easier for Indian visitors.
