A cab driver’s list of six passenger rules has stirred a debate on Reddit. Some users found his guidelines harsh, while others praised him for setting boundaries. The driver printed the rules and hung them in his cab, ensuring all customers could see them.

Respect and Politeness Above All

Among the rules, the cab driver emphasised the importance of politeness and respect, asking passengers to avoid calling him “bhaiya.” He reminded them that although they’re passengers, they don’t own the vehicle. “The person driving the cab is the owner,” his rules stated.

No Room for Attitude

One of the more divisive rules asked passengers to check their attitudes. “Put your attitude in your pocket,” he wrote, clarifying that a higher fare doesn’t justify disrespect. Additionally, the driver requested passengers to close the door gently and be courteous in their interactions.

Don’t Rush the Ride

The driver’s last rule, highlighted in red, stressed the importance of safe driving. He warned passengers not to demand that he speed up to help them arrive faster, writing, “Don’t say to drive fast, be on time.”

Online Reaction: Mixed Opinions

After the list was shared on Reddit, users were divided. While many agreed that setting boundaries was reasonable, some questioned the driver’s opposition to being called “bhaiya.” A few users pointed out that regional terms of respect, like “Anna” in the South, are commonly used and should be acceptable.

Others, however, felt that the driver’s tone was overly authoritative. While they agreed on the basics of politeness and safety, some felt the rules went too far, calling the approach “ego-driven.”

Ultimately, the list sparked discussions about mutual respect and the balance of power between drivers and passengers.
