Leah Tata is quickly turning into a significant stakeholder in the Tata business empire, poised to inherit a share of the multi-billion dollar company. History of Leah Tata
Leah is the eldest child of Noel Tata and Aloo Mistry of course, with very illustrious business backgrounds. On her academic front, she has an excellent academic record having completed Master’s in Marketing from IE Business School in Madrid. In 2010 she started with Louis Vuitton doing a three-month internship. She spent ten years working in leadership roles in the Indian hotel industry, first when in 2006 she joined the Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces as assistant sales manager.
Role in Tata Medical Centre Trust
Leah, with siblings Maya and Neville, has managed Tata Medical Centre Trust (TMCT), which runs a big cancer hospital in Kolkata since 2011. Tata inaugurated the hospital. TMCT is a part of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, contributing majorly to health care spending, donating Rs 500 crore to TMCT.
At her present age, Leah bears the charge of five single key trusts of significant stakeholders in Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group.
Family History
Leah’s mother, Aloo Mistry, is from the influential Mistry family. She is a child of Cyrus Mistry, a past chair of the Tata Group. Aloo also has links with Pallonji Mistry, who founded the Shapoorji Pallonji Group.
Noel Tata is Leah’s father, who joined his career starting from Tata International. In the year 1999, Noel was appointed as Managing Director of Trent. He proved an asset to Westside and Titan brands. Family system is full of complexities because Noel is married to Aloo Mistry, so they are tied up with Mistry and Tata legacies.
