Osaka University has announced their schedule to open registration for MEXT-funded Master’s and PhD courses from October 1, 2025, in Robotics Engineering and Bioengineering. One can apply for these programmes from November 1 to November 15, 2024. This scholarship program provides the availability of first-class learning in the latest up-to-date state-of-the-art fields for international students.
Eligibility Benefits
The winners will receive the following advantages:
- Monthly Stipend
Master’s students: ¥147000
Doctoral students: ¥148000.
- Exemptions: Application fees, examination fees for entry to the college, admission fees and tuition shall be exempt.
The scholarship covers the number of years it would take to complete the programs under consideration, based on the case where the students are repeating a year they do not qualify for the supplement.
Program Details
The Graduate School of Engineering Science will have a total intake of four students in three departments: Materials Engineering Science, Mechanical Science and Bioengineering, and Systems Innovation.
Application Requirements
- The following are the requirements one needs to meet to be considered for a program:
- Citizenship/Nationality: Only from countries having diplomatic relations with Japan
- Visa: Non- Japanese nationals must obtain a resident (Student) visa upon enrollment.
- Age: The applicant must have been born on or after April 2, 1990.
- Educational Background
Master’s Program:
- Bachelor’s degree from a Japanese university or expected to graduate before entry.
- Completion of sixteen years of formal education or its equivalent.
- Academic equivalence to a university graduate in the eyes of Graduate School of Engineering Science.
Doctoral Program:
- Master’s degree or master’s program completion before entry.
- At least two years of research experience equivalent to a master’s degree.
Language Proficiency
Language proficiency tests are mandatory. Students need to achieve the minimum scores set by the university: 79 (TOEFL-iBT), 213 (TOEFL-CBT), 550 (TOEFL-PBT), or 6.0 (IELTS).
Cultural Contribution
The international students while in Japan, have to participate in cultural activities that will lead to mutual understanding between their country and Japan.
