The UAE Government Media Office has unveiled the Social Media Guide for Government Entities, aimed at adapting to the fast-changing social media landscape and improving interaction between federal entities and the public. The guide was announced during the Federal Government Communication Network meeting at Emirates Towers in Dubai, attended by key officials including Saeed Mohammad Al Eter, Assistant Minister for Strategic Projects at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs.
Comprehensive Framework for Social Media Use
Developed in collaboration with the New Media Academy, the Social Media Guide offers a detailed framework to standardise social media practices across government bodies. Its goal is to ensure uniformity and clarity in messaging, strengthen the digital presence of government entities, and promote more effective public engagement. The guide provides best practices for digital communication strategies, emphasising content creation, visual identity, and consistent audience interaction.
Emphasis on Innovation and Impact
Alia Al Hammadi, Vice Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office and CEO of the New Media Academy, highlighted the guide’s role in enhancing governmental content creation and delivery. She noted that the guide introduces innovative methods for creating clear and impactful content, including tools for media content production, storytelling techniques, crisis management, and adapting to digital trends.
Workshop on Best Practices
The announcement was accompanied by a specialised workshop organised by the UAE Government Media Office and the New Media Academy. The workshop focused on best practices for effective governmental social media presence and included expert contributions.
Importance of Consistent Communication
Khadija Hussain, Executive Director of Government Communication at the UAE Government Media Office, emphasised the need for effective social media communication in today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape. She described the guide as a significant step toward unifying communication practices and ensuring messages align with the UAE’s vision and engage the public effectively.
Talent Development and Management Programme
The meeting also showcased the outcomes of the “Specialised Content Creator Programme,” designed to enhance the skills of government communication teams. Graduates of this program were selected for the Talent Development and Management Programme, which focuses on creating high-quality digital content that reflects the UAE’s positive image. This initiative includes training in visual identity development, writing techniques, filming, digital publishing, and social media management.
Fostering Future Content Creators
The programme aims to nurture young talent within government communication, preparing a new generation of content creators to contribute to the UAE government’s digital presence and engage effectively with diverse audiences.
