Scholarship Details
Total Number of Scholarships
ONGC offers a total of 2,000 scholarships annually, distributed among different categories as follows:
- SC/ST Students: 1,000 scholarships
- OBC Students: 500 scholarships
- General Category Students: 500 scholarships
Scholarship Amount
Each recipient receives ₹48,000 per annum, disbursed as ₹4,000 per month.
Field-Wise Distribution
- Engineering: 500 for SC/ST, 300 for OBC, 300 for General
- MBBS: 90 for SC/ST, 50 for OBC, 50 for General
- MBA: 140 for SC/ST, 50 for OBC, 50 for General
- Masters in Geology/Geophysics: 270 for SC/ST, 100 for OBC, 100 for General

Scholarships are allocated across five zones:
- North Zone: Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand
- West Zone: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu
- North-East Zone: Assam, Mizoram, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland
- East Zone: Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand
- South Zone: Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep
Special Note
50% of the scholarships are reserved for female candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the ONGC Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Indian
- Academic Qualification: Must be a full-time student in the 1st year of the relevant course (Engineering/MBBS/MBA/Masters in Geology/Geophysics) at a recognized institution.
- Marks:
- Engineering/MBBS: Minimum 60% in Class 12
- MBA/Masters in Geology/Geophysics: Minimum 60% in graduation or 6.0 CGPA/OGPA
- Income:
- SC/ST: Less than ₹4.50 lakh per annum
- OBC/General: Less than ₹2 lakh per annum
- Age Limit: Maximum 30 years as of October 16, 2023

Selection Criteria
Scholarships are awarded based on merit. The selection for Engineering and MBBS programs depends on Class 12 marks, while for MBA and Geology/Geophysics, graduation performance is considered. Preference is given to students from low-income families and those from below-poverty-line backgrounds.
Terms and Conditions
- Scholarship recipients cannot receive any other financial assistance.
- Students must maintain satisfactory academic performance and conduct to continue receiving the scholarship.
- A minimum of 50% marks or a 5-grade point average is required to retain the scholarship.
