In today’s digital age, misinformation can spread rapidly, leading to widespread confusion and false narratives. A recent example of this is a photo circulating online that claims Congress leader Rahul Gandhi married a woman in the image and that the children with them are their offspring. To clarify the truth behind this claim, Channeliam Fact Check has investigated the viral photo and the associated allegations.

Claim: Rahul Gandhi’s Alleged Marriage and Children

The viral image in question shows Rahul Gandhi standing alongside a woman and three children, accompanied by a claim that he married the woman and that the children are his. This claim has gained traction on social media, prompting many to question the accuracy of the information.

Fact-Check: The Truth Behind the Photo

Channeliam Fact Check has determined that the claim is FALSE. The individuals in the photograph are not related to Rahul Gandhi. Instead, they are the children of Priyanka Nandwana, who is the President of Mahila Congress in Baran District, Rajasthan. During his Bharat Jodo Yatra in 2022, Rahul Gandhi took these children on a helicopter ride, fulfilling their wish to meet him.

Details of the Photo’s Context:

Background Information: The photo shows Rahul Gandhi with Priyanka Nandwana’s children. The claim of a secret marriage is unfounded. Rahul Gandhi met the Nandwana family during a trip from Nainani Farm in Bundi to Sawai Madhopur, where he was celebrating his mother Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. Kamakshi Nandwana, one of the children, had expressed a desire to meet him on her 14th birthday. Rahul Gandhi not only honored her request but also took the children on a helicopter ride.

Verification Process: A reverse image search and various news reports confirm the identity of the individuals in the photo. Independent YouTube news reports further verify that the children are indeed Priyanka Nandwana’s. Additionally, during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi had previously fulfilled a promise to three girls from Madhya Pradesh by taking them on a helicopter ride, demonstrating a pattern of engaging with young supporters.

The circulating photo of Rahul Gandhi with the children of a Congress leader is accompanied by a false claim of marriage. The actual context reveals a gesture of goodwill during a political tour, not a personal relationship. Channeliam Fact Check reaffirms that the individuals in the image are not related to Rahul Gandhi, debunking the misleading narrative.
