Kerala is set to make a significant leap in artificial intelligence and robotics with the establishment of its first robotic park in Thrissur. This new initiative aims to foster innovation, collaboration, and growth in the robotics sector, according to Minister for Industries, Law, and Coir, Shri P Rajeeve.
Overview of the Robotic Park
The robotic park will be developed on a ten-acre plot in Thrissur with support from the district panchayat. The park will be divided into four main sections:
- RoboLand: A public space offering hands-on experiences with robotics and AI technologies.
- Robotic Institute: Dedicated to providing education and training in robotics.
- Production and Development Center: Managed by Inker Robotics, focusing on the creation and enhancement of robotic solutions.
- Incubator: Designed to support up to ten emerging robotics startups.
Upcoming Global Investors Meet
In addition to the robotic park, Kerala will host a Global Investors Meet on February 21 and 22 next year. This event aims to bring together investors and stakeholders to further discuss and promote the state’s technological advancements and investment opportunities.
Support for Robotics Startups
The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) plans to invest in robotics startups through equity funding. KSIDC will provide equity investments to five robotic startups this financial year and increase the scale-up loan amount from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore.
Robotics Round Table Highlights
The announcement was made during the Robotics Round Table at Grand Hyatt, Bolgatty Island, organised by KSIDC in partnership with the Department of Industry and Commerce. The event marked the beginning of Kerala’s journey to becoming a hub for hi-tech manufacturing and robotics technologies. It featured discussions on the state’s vision for robotics, including sessions on fostering government-industry partnerships and the role of AI and robotics in future innovations.
With the establishment of the robotic park and continued efforts to strengthen connections between technology sectors and investors, Kerala is positioning itself as a leading destination for robotics and AI advancements.
