Infosys has introduced a new ‘Power’ programme as part of its campus placement drive, aiming to attract top talent with differentiated hiring packages. The initiative offers impressive pay packages of Rs 9 lakh per annum, significantly higher than the typical entry-level packages of Rs 3-3.5 lakh previously offered by the company.
Enhanced Pay Packages
The ‘Power’ programme includes various pay scales ranging from Rs 4-6.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, depending on the role and skills. This new scheme is designed to focus on coding and software challenges, programming skill assessments, and other specialized skill tests, reflecting Infosys’s commitment to attracting highly skilled candidates.
Comparison with Industry Peers
Infosys’s new hiring initiative is similar to TCS’s recruitment strategy, which also offers multiple pay packages for freshers. TCS provides three tiers of compensation: ‘Ninja’ at Rs 3.6 lakh, ‘Digital’ at Rs 7.5 lakh, and ‘Prime’ at Rs 9-11 lakh. The ‘Prime’ programme has recently expanded to include roles in AI, generative AI, and machine learning.
Workforce Trends and Hiring Plans
Infosys reported a decrease in its workforce by nearly 2,000 employees from April to June, bringing its total headcount to 315,332. This reduction reflects the broader trend in the $250-billion technology services sector in India, where many software exporters have been cutting jobs due to a slowdown over the past year.
In contrast, the top four IT firms in India are expected to hire about 82,000 freshers in fiscal year 2025. HCLTech and Wipro are planning to recruit 10,000 and up to 12,000 freshers, respectively, as they continue to expand their workforce.
