The Jais Flight zip line, located in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s longest zip line, stretching nearly three kilometres. This remarkable attraction is situated on Jebel Jais Mountain, the UAE’s highest peak, which rises to over 1,930 metres.
A Hub for Adventure Tourism
Positioned 1,680 metres above sea level, the Jais Flight zip line is enhancing Ras Al Khaimah’s reputation as a premier adventure tourism destination. Visitors can start their thrilling experience at the Jais Adventure Park welcome centre, where they can purchase tickets and prepare for their zip line journey. The ride, which features a ‘Superman’ launch position, lasts approximately two minutes and concludes on a suspended platform with a glass floor.
Participant Requirements and Safety Measures
While there are no age restrictions for the zip line, participants must weigh between 40 and 120 kilograms and be at least 122 centimetres tall. Alejandro Soto, the Operations Manager of Jais Zipline Park, assures that stringent safety standards are maintained, including daily operational inspections and staff training.
Expanding Ras Al Khaimah’s Tourist Appeal
According to Philip Durrell, Senior Operations Director at RAK Leisure, the zip line is a key element of a broader initiative to position Ras Al Khaimah as a major tourist attraction. “Jebel Jais offers everything from less challenging hikes to the Sky Tour, a zip line route that crosses the wadi, spanning over five kilometres,” Durrell noted.
Other Attractions and Visitor Tips
In addition to the zip line, the Jais Sledder provides a more relaxed experience with a controllable roller coaster-like ride through the scenic landscape. Durrell encourages visitors to “arrive with an open mind” and to explore the region’s offerings at their own pace.
Oman’s Longest Zipline
For those interested in exploring zip lining further afield, the Oman Adventure Centre also features the world’s longest zip line. It operates from 9 AM to 4 PM on weekdays, weekends, and official holidays, providing another exciting option for thrill-seekers.
