Carl Zeiss India, the Indian subsidiary of the renowned German optics and medical technology firm, will commence lens production in India starting June 2025. The company has secured 35 acres from the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board and is investing ₹2,500 crore in the new manufacturing plant.
A Major Global Investment
The upcoming factory is set to be one of Carl Zeiss’s largest production facilities worldwide. It will produce a diverse range of lenses, including those for vision care, cinema, and photography.
Focused on Indian and Export Markets

Growing Market Presence
Carl Zeiss’s Indian operations, which also include industrial quality solutions and research microscopy products, have reached a market value of ₹1,800 crore. The new facility underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the Indian market.
