Marking its 10th anniversary in India, Xiaomi recently showcased its highly anticipated Xiaomi SU7 Electric Vehicle (EV). This public display of the flagship product underscores the Chinese company’s commitment to innovation and its ambition to integrate its “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem. The Xiaomi SU7, described as a “full-size high performance eco-technology sedan,” represents the company’s foray into the electric vehicle market. This EV is the first in what is expected to be a series of Xiaomi electric vehicles, highlighting the company’s vision for the future of sustainable transportation.
In addition to the sleek design of the Xiaomi SU7, the company has developed five core EV technologies: E-Motor, CTB Integrated Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin. The top variant, Xiaomi SU7 Max, boasts impressive specifications. It offers 673 PS of power and a maximum range of 800 km on a single charge. With 838 nm of torque, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds and reaches a top speed of 265 km/h. The vehicle features a top-level braking system capable of stopping from 100 km/h within 33.3 metres, a steel-aluminium alloy armoured cage, and a suite of 16 active safety features providing 360° protection.
Inside, the Xiaomi SU7 offers a range of advanced features, including a 16.1-inch 3K ultra-clear central control screen, a large 56-inch heads-up display (HUD), and a rotating dashboard for a welcoming ceremony. It also supports connecting Xiaomi tablets as additional screens, creating a 5-screen linkage in the car. Despite the extensive marketing and promotion of the Xiaomi SU7, company officials clarified that the vehicle was brought to India solely for showcase purposes and is not for sale in the Indian market.
Xiaomi entered the Indian market in 2014 and quickly became a dominant player in the smartphone segment with its Redmi and Mi brands. Over the years, Xiaomi has diversified its product portfolio to include smart TVs, fitness bands, earphones, power banks, and various smart home devices, solidifying its position as a leading electronics company in India. As Xiaomi continues to innovate and expand its range of products, the introduction of the SU7 Electric Vehicle marks a significant milestone in its journey, reflecting the company’s dedication to pioneering eco-friendly technology and enhancing the consumer experience.
