Mumbai is abuzz with excitement as the wedding celebrations of Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani, son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, reach a fever pitch. Radhika Merchant, daughter of Viren Merchant, the founder and CEO of Encore Healthcare (EHPL), and his wife Shaila Merchant, has married Anant, the youngest son of the Ambani family.
Radhika, born in 1994 in Mumbai, comes from one of India’s wealthiest families. She studied political science at New York University and interned at various businesses in the Big Apple, preparing for her role in her family’s pharmaceutical empire. Today, she sits on the board of Encore Healthcare alongside her sister, Anjali, while their father serves as CEO and their mother as managing director. But Radhika is more than a businesswoman. She’s a trained classical dancer, having spent eight years mastering Bharatanatyam. The wedding arena was beyond measurable in digits. Ambani family accepted their younger daughter-in-law with such a pride and extravaganza. Radhika’s recent bachelorette party was a charming ‘Princess Diaries’ themed event, a stark contrast to the lavish celebrations thrown by the Ambanis.
In March, Mukesh Ambani hosted a three-day, $100 million prenuptial bash in Jamnagar, featuring the world’s largest drone show and a private concert by Rihanna. Following that, Radhika and Anant celebrated with an extravagant cruise for 800 A-listers, including a masquerade ball, exclusive Justin Bieber concert with the presence of so many highly celebrated personalities, and a Roman toga party.
Radhika’s bachelorette party, in line with her understated personality, was a relaxed affair. Themed around ‘The Princess Diaries’, the event saw her closest friends, including actress Janhvi Kapoor, donning pink silk pajamas and tiaras. The party featured pastel pink macarons, elaborate flower walls, and scenes recreated from the film, offering a contrast to the couple’s more extravagant pre-wedding celebrations. Following this, Radhika and Anant threw a lavish cruise for 800 A-lister friends in May, featuring a masquerade ball and a Roman toga party as the luxury liner sailed from Palermo to Portofino. Sources have called the Ambanis ‘India’s most powerful family’, noting their significant social and financial influence.
In March, Mukesh Ambani hosted a three-day prenuptial bash in Jamnagar, costing an estimated $100 million. The event included the world’s largest drone show, a private concert by Rihanna, and a guest list of 1,200, including Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Karlie Kloss, and the King and Queen of Bhutan. To manage the influx of high-profile guests, the Ambanis have made extensive transportation arrangements. Media reports and other sources reveal that the Ambanis, with a net worth exceeding Rs 9 lakh crore, have arranged for three Falcon 2000 jets to transport guests to the wedding ceremony in Mumbai. Rajan Mehra, CEO of Air Charter company Club One Air, confirmed to Reuters that the Ambanis have rented three Falcon 2000 private jets for this purpose. He also mentioned that over 100 private planes are expected to be utilized during the wedding festivities. “The guests are coming from all over, and each aircraft will make multiple trips across the country,” he told Reuters.
Mukesh and Nita Ambani have gone to great lengths to ensure their guests enjoy the finest culinary delights. According to Mint, they have enlisted the services of Varanasi’s renowned Kaashi Chaat Bhandaar for the wedding. Guests will be treated to delicacies such as palak chaat, chana kachori, aloo tikki chaat, tomato chaat, and kulfi. Nita Ambani, who visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple last month, also stopped by Kaashi Chaat Bhandaar to sample a few snacks. Rakesh Keshari, the owner of the famous chaat shop, confirmed her visit and mentioned that she was very pleased with the food.
Given the Ambanis’ history of spectacular weddings, such as Isha Ambani’s 2018 wedding featuring Beyoncé and Akash Ambani’s 2019 wedding with Coldplay, this time also they didn’t failed us to witness a breathtaking visual treat. To handle the anticipated traffic congestion, the Mumbai Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory on July 5. The advisory details new traffic regulations, including diversions and restricted access, which will be in effect from July 12 to July 15 on routes leading to the Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), the venue for the wedding.
